Teen Discovery Costa Rica is a short Term (typically 8-12 weeks*) wake-up and refocus program
for Teens who need a Alternative for the summer or a simple reality check and wake-up call any time year round. We are here to help during any type of Crisis that the family might be experiencing in the process. Our Program is simular to most Boot Camps, Military Schools, or other boarding schools for troubled Teens in that we have a strict daily structure that teaches respect and self discipline. but also has a Therapeutic component as found in most Wilderness Therapy Processes and other troubled youth programs.
This program works well for the Adolescent who is struggling in his home school or the community
, as well as the child who might not have yet
taken the plunge off the deep edge; but with Failing grades in school and a
need to get caught up with the rest of their class, to basic disrespect
to parents, and even in some cases evidences of possible drug use, Teen
Discovery works with first the Student that is having problems;
then holistically with Parents and siblings to restore the Family to a functional
Unit.
The facts are that the Student who is dysfunctional and acting out often must be removed for a time from the family to allow for it to heal and change and for the student to change and refocus their lives. By attending Teen Discovery this natural distance begins this process. The fact they are in another place other than home and unfamiliar surrounding immediately starts the process of positive change. Finding themselves in entirely new surroundings, teens tend to be much more teachable and open to new directions.
Our Process is well suited for students with add, adhd, aspergers syndrome, Oppositional Defiant and autism or just plain rebellious or defiant in nature.
This is all part of the Basic 7 Dynamics of Change TM discussed under our Location and Philosophy page...Again experience has shown that a unfamiliar surroundings and culture not only facilitates change and perspective, but at Teen Discovery in Costa Rica this also creates the kinds of memories and experiences that they are likely to appreciate the rest of their lives.
* Teen Discovery Costa Rica is a 90 day process which costs $12995 paid upfront upon admission approval with any additional months as needed at a reduced tuition of $2995 for any extra months with a warranty Guarantee of an additional 30 days of full services Free of charge, if the Child returns to past bad behavior after returning home good till they are 18 years of age with the Discount off of regular services costs if after completing the 90 days it is determined by the Staff and therapist that the student isn't ready to return home.
